Hello dear Friends! Can you tell I'm just smitten by Penny Black's Mo Manning stamps? I have another card made with the set T-Time #30-178 today...

for the sentiment, I used Friendship #30-160
le titre a été fait avec la planche de tampons: Friendship #30-160

I inked the edges to have more dimension...
J'ai encré les bords afin de mieux finir l'image...

... some stitching for an instant polished look ...
... quelques points zig zag à la machine pour en effet "bien comme il faut"...

... and added a wood trim to give it some texture. I think the circles give a feeling of serenity and hence reinforces the sentiment.
... et ajouté une frise en bois. Je trouve que le sentiment de sérénité provoqué par ces petits cercles renforcent le message.

Since it is rather rare I can make a layout featuring our three children, how about I first start by (re) introducing my "babies" to you all! Starting from the left, we have almost 20 year old Gabrielle Rose, 18½ year old Keelan Ange and of course, 10 year old "miss"Gallianne Lily. I asked each of them to hold a letter to make the word DAD.  

I began by stamping the image on a piece of water color paper. I cut around the little girls' feet, the dad's high-tops and some of his fingers for a more realistic look.
J'ai commencé par tamponner l'image sur une feuille de papier aquarelle. Puis, j'ai découpé autour des pieds de la petite fille, la chaussure gauche du papa ainsi qu'une partie de sa main pour un effet plus réaliste.

I used Faber Castell's Gelatos for the base colors and water color pencils to create greater contrasts.
J'ai utilisé les Gelatos de Faber Castell comme base puis des crayons aquarellable pour un plus grand contraste.

I adhered the whole strip to the kraft base.
J'ai collé toute la bande sur la base de papier kraft.

and added a golden doily to the top... (doily can be found in the baking section of Michael's or any other well stocked craft store)
et ajouté un naperon doré en haut...

I matted the three photos on a strip of white cardstock and added the date at the bottom right.
J'ai matté les trois photos sur une bande de papier blanc et ajouté la date en-bas à droite.

then I adhered the strip to the dictionary page but it needed a little "pick me up"...
ensuite j'ai collé la bande avec les 3 photos sur la page de dictionnaire mais c'était un peu fade alors...

... so I added a blue strip of paper from Penny Black Inc.'s Madison collection.

... j'ai ajouté une petite bande de papier bleu du bloc Madison.

I also added three tiny wood veneers on the top...aren't they cute?
J'ai aussi ajouté ces toutes petites découpes en bois en haut...elles sont mignonnes n'est-ce pas?

Hello dear Friends! I'm back with WEEK23 of the 2013 in 52 Page Album. It's nice to be update with that 8" Project Life. The other one, my "big" PL is stuck on WEEK16 I'm afraid...

This Project Life is so easy to keep up, especially with such versatile cards and stickers as these from Simple Stories...
Ce PL est si facile à tenir à jour, surtout lorsque l'on trouve des cartes et auto-collants aussi chouettes que ceux-ci...

These arrows for instance made me think of the feathers (on Lily's tee-shirt)...
Ces flèches par exemple m'ont fait penser aux plumes sur le tee-shirt de Gallianne Lily...

Then, I printed the date onto the card and created a pocket for my journaling with it...
Ensuite, j'ai imprimé la date sur la carte et crée une poche dans laquelle est glissé l'étiquette avec le texte...

The remodeling is going well. It's a lot of fun to see the drastic changes. The fact that we have worked with this contractor on many different occasions takes 90% of the stress away as far as we're concerned. The noise level and the dust have been totally fine too...

The most radical change happened yesterday when I went up and all of a sudden I saw some natural light coming from the walk in closet! I screamed of joy!
Le vrai choc est arrivé hier après-midi. Je suis montée et j'ai vu de la lumière naturelle émaner de la penderie! J'ai poussé un sacré cri!

This card is for a very special girl who is turning two next Tuesday but I bet you even "grown-ups" would melt for that Sweetie-Pie!
Cette carte est destinée à une adorable petite fille qui aura deux ans mardi prochain mais je parie que même sa Maman craquera pour cette Choupinette en tutu!

As always, I combined Gelatos for the base colors and water color pencils to accentuate certain areas.
Pour ce qui est de la colorisation, j'ai procédé comme à mon habitude, des Gelatos pour les couleurs de base et des crayons aquarelle pour relever le tout...

As I'm sure you've noticed, I have a hard time playing with paper and not including a shipping tag of some sorts! Here it serves as a base for a fun cluster of elements which brings a playful feel and fun texture to the card. Thank You for visiting today ☺

Goodbye Ugly Bathroom! - Home Improvement (I)

Hello dear Friends! The arrival of summer often rhymes with "home improvement" in our household. Little by little we tackle every room in the frame house we bought nine years ago and this year we are building a new master bathroom! The one you see in the picture below was built about twenty years ago by the previous owners. Back then, jacuzzi were all the rage and the attention given to having a nice shower cabinet seemed secondary. We plan on doing just the opposite, no more jacuzzi or tub for that matter...instead, a great big shower/steam room...

Bonjour chères Scropines! L'arrivée de l'été est souvent synonyme de travaux chez nous. Petit à petit, nous refaisons un peu tout dans cette maison du siècle passé que nous avons achetée il y a exactement neuf ans. Cette fois-ci, et aujourd'hui pour être plus précise, nous nous attaquons à la salle de bains principale. Celle que vous voyez sur la mosaique de photos ci-dessous avait été construite il y a environ vingt ans par les anciens propriétaires. A l'époque, les jacuzzi étaient très à la mode et peu d'attention semblait être donné au cabinet douche. Nous avons pour projet de faire justement l'inverse: plus de jacuzzi, ni même de baignoire; à la place, un grand cabinet douche + sauna...

Here are some plans, the 1st one is a floor plan, as if you were hovering right above the bathroom. The second one gives you an idea of what the whole sink/counter/mirror area will look like.

this very contemporary and zen look, we know we'll have two shower heads just like the ones on the picture below...

and we have picked this tile for the walls and floor. It's a nice grey and I really like the gentle waves...

These past few days and especially this week-end were devoted to emptying the entire walk-in closet. It is adjacent to the master bathroom and parts of it will be demolished as well. The whole process of sorting was tiring of course but perhaps more emotionally than physically. I had never really sorted my "stuff" you see and realizing how much I had accumulated over the years made me a little sick to my stomach. I cannot tell you how many trips Mark made to the Salvation Army on my behalf, I know it was more than six. I can honestly say that for the first time I did what I preached which is "if you haven't worn it in over a year and there's no strong sentimental value attached to it, GET RID OF IT!" I'm happy to report that I have kept only 1/3 of my entire wardrobe and I am ready for this new adventure!

Ces derniers jours et surtout ce week-end, j'ai dû trier toute ma penderie qui se trouve mitoyenne de la s-d-b. Trier, donner, ranger, c'était assez éprouvant mais plus psychologiquement que physiquement. Enfin, ce qui m'a vraiment secoué c'est de me rendre compte de l'accumulation de tous ces achats au fil des années... pourquoi? à quoi bon? quel gâchis, quel poids dans tous les sens du terme! Je ne pourrais même pas vous dire combien de voyage Mark a fait pour moi jusqu'à l'armée du salut. Je sais que c'était plus que six! Pour la première fois, j'ai donc mis en application ce en quoi je crois depuis longtemps c'est-à-dire "si tu ne l'as pas mis/utilisé depuis plus d'un an et qu'il n'existe pas un fort lien sentimental, DEBARRASSE T'EN!". Je suis contente de m'être allégée des 3/4 de ma garde-robe et donc prête pour cette nouvelle aventure!

Hello dear Friends! This week-end, I'm using a new stamp from Penny Black Inc.'s latest collection and giving it a new twist. That stamp is called with Flourish #40-241 and here is the 8 1/2 x 11" layout I made with it.

à présent, voici comment j'ai construit ma page...

I started by adhering a trimmed down page (5 1/2 by 8 1/2) from an old dictionary to a 8 1/2 by 11" kraft base. I chose this page in particular because of the airplane. The general thought of the layout was going to be about traveling and the stamp framed the sketch perfectly...

J'ai commencé par coller une page de vieux dictionnaire sur une feuille de papier kraft. J'avais choisi cette page à cause de l'avion. Le thème de ma page allait portait plus ou moins sur l'idée de partance, voyage. En plus, le tampon encadrerait parfaitement le croquis...

I first stamped the frame but wasn't happy with the result so I just applied a thin layer of gesso over the black ink. I really like the look of gesso with printed paper and kraft. I should have applied before stamping the first time around.

J'ai tamponné le tampon cadre une première fois mais je n'étais pas satisfaite du résultat donc j'ai passé une fine couche de gesso sur l'encre noire. De toutes façons, j'aime beaucoup le gesso avec du papier imprimé et du kraft et j'aurais dû en passer une couche avant de tamponner.

I added a strip of printed cardstock from Penny Black Inc.'s Madison collection and distressed the edges. Then I stamped the frame again. This time I was ok with the way it looked.
J'ai ajouté un morceau de papier de la collection Madison (Penny Black Inc.) et retamponné le cadre. Cette fois, le résultat me convenait.

I proceeded to adding more stuff, a gold doily, a card, an arrow and two square pictures taken with the Hipstamatic app. on my iPhone.
J'ai continué à ajouter, carte, naperon doré, une flèche et puis deux photos Hipstamatic prises avec l'iPhone.

I typed the journaling on my old Royal typewriter.
J'ai tapé le texte sur ma vieille Royal.

Adhered the journaling to the page and added a little bit of stitching. and left the threads hanging..
Une fois le texte cousu, j'ai fait une couture machine et laissé les fils sortis pour un petit côté rebel...

I added a "nest" of thread there together with two yellow gems to echo the paint splatters. Thank You!
J'ai ajouté un "nid" de fil blanc ainsi que deux décos pour reprendre le jaune des taches de peinture. Et voilà! Merci!

Lily's Travel Log - France 04/2013

Hello dear Friends! Today, I'm excited to share a video of 9¾year old D.D's Travel Log to France. If you'd like to see the prep work, please click HERE  She did all the entries but one while traveling and I helped her out with the editing, the structure, the cover and things like that. It was a lot of work but I think I know she'll treasure it and perhaps she will grow up truly enjoying the whole process!

Bonjour chères Scropines! Aujourd'hui, je suis très contente de partager le Carnet de Bord (France, avril 2013) de Gallianne Lily (10 ans depuis le mois de mai dernier). Elle avait fait toutes ses entrées sauf une sur place, pendant le voyage. Il ne restait plus qu'à le mettre en forme, changer sa structure (elle était partie d'un classeur qui comportait toutes les fournitures nécessaires // voir ou revoir ICI) donc oui, c'est un travail à quatre mains mais qui, je l'espère, aura semé la petite graine du cahier de voyage en elle!

Gesso, Gelato & Stamping on Printed Paper - Cards

Hello dear Friends! I'm super excited to share another post with a complete TUTORIAL over at Faber-Castell today. I have used an old dictionary page, some gesso, some Gelatos, a background stamp, a postal stamp, a sentiment and some gold acrylic paint to make a one of a kind Graduation Card...
