WHO LIKES SARDINES?

A little recycling project to finish off the week?
My Lilybug's polly pockets needed a bed and I found out a can of sardines was the perfect fit for the little dolls so with a little felt, some embroidery floss and a scalloped edge made a while back with a die-cutting machine:TADA!
Now that the brunette has her bed, the blond doll needs one right? and guess who has to eat what first?!

Have a lovely week-end.

Larissa Holland is a graphic designer her blog is called mmmcrafts , the cutest patterns are there free ready to be downloaded and Jenny whose blog is:allsorts, is such a well-rounded artist, her stuff is amazing!
Now go on and what ever you do today make sure you create something( even if it's in your head!)

INSTANT BOOK

If you haven't had a chance to visit Hero Arts Blog (see right side bar )this is the week! The host Lisa mentioned Esther K. Smith's book HOW TO MAKE BOOKS and demonstrated an example of an instant book. The demo is so easy and clever I just had to have a go at it.The mini book is made with only one sheet of paper and I've prepared a few but so far I've managed to only finish this one which was made using one sheet of that crazy bulky textured paper Gabrielle and I made a month ago.
( the size of the mini book = 3 in. x 4 in.)

Supplies:
all stamps: Hero Arts
p.p: SEI
solid cardstock: ( solid indeed!) Homemade
buttons: SEI

RATATOUILLE

At the end of the movie, the mean guy Anton Ego tastes this dish made by Remy and relives a childhood memory of his mother making it for him. It's the same for me,this wholesome Summer dish takes me back to my chilhood. RATATOUILLE is so easy to make, so economical, so good for you and most importantly: so tasty that I thought I'd share its recipe and a couple of tips with you.

Ingredients:
olive oil
2 onions
a few garlic cloves
2 yellow zucchini
2 green zucchini
2 eggplants
1 jar of tomato sauce
herbs de Provence
coriander seeds

Preparation:
1. wash, peel and dice all veggies.
2. pour olive oil in a large iron cast pan and saute the onions until they 're lightly caramelized.
3. add the crushed garlic ( do not overcook)
4.transfer to a big slow-cooker.
5.this is where trick #1 comes: saute each type of veggie individually, transferring them into the slow-cooker each time ( if you do not have a slow cooker transfer them into a large iron cast pan )
6.when all the veggies have been transferred into the slow-cooker, turn it on to "SLOW"
.
7. add the tomato sauce and half a cup of turbinado ( raw ) sugar.
8. add the coriander seeds , Herbes de Provence, salt and pepper and stir.
9. Put the lid on the cooker and go to the beach because Summer is almost over :(
10.The ratatouille is ready in a couple of hours, it needs to cook slowly which is why a slow cooker is perfect. It is both delicious eaten hot or cold with parmesan cheese on top and some fresh basil. It's even better the next day and the next and the next!
Store it in a glass jar in the fridge for up to a week.
Bon Appetit!

BASEBALL

Between these two wearing the Fukudome headband and the excitement of a night game I just had to make another L.O about the Cubs!

CUPCAKE

Why, I prefer looking at cupcakes rather than eating them and this bit of paper from the Paper Source has had me drooling for a while. Here is a simple card with fresh strawberry, vanilla and chocolate colors and a candle to make a wish.

Supplies:
p.p: The paper Source, Making Memories, Martha Stewart
solid paper: K & Co.

A NEW MAGAZINE

Thank you so much for your sweet comments~Du fond du coeur merci pour vos petits mots

ELLA

I finished this L.O and just realized my inconscious played funny tricks again. For instance, I chose to put wings around the "A" not thinking for one second about the A for Angel also the circular stitching (which I seem to really be into these days)was just meant to be a little plus and now those circle appear to be halos. I don't know what it's called but I just love it when it happens, have you ever experienced it?

JAMMING

Let me just say this is the EASIEST recipe EVER!So if you happen to have a few ripe mangoes and perhaps some peaches or apricots and you are willing to make and taste the yummiest jam ever, do keep on reading...
I've adapted a French recipe called Confiture de mangues.

Ingredients for about 3 1/2 jars of jam (1kl.300):

  1. 5 mangoes

  2. 2 to 3 peaches

  3. 700g.= 1 1/2 pounds of sugar (= half the weight of the fruits )

  4. juice of 1 lemon

  5. juice of 1 lime

  6. 1 vanilla pod

1. In a big bowl put the diced mangoes + the seeds ( that's the trick, the seeds will naturally thicken the mix ) + the diced peaches + the juices+ the sugar. Cover and let rest for about 3 hours at room temperature.

2. After the 3 hours, cut the vanilla pod in half ( lengthwise ) add the seeds and the pod to the mix.

3. Put the fruit mix in a pot and bring to a boil. Cook another 30 MN. after boiling point stirring occasionally. Do not overcook.

4. After 30 MN. check the consistency by taking some jam on a spoon and letting it drip on a plate. The jam should not be too runny.

5. Remove the mango seeds and the vanilla pod. Mix the jam in a blender. Transfer into sterilized glass jars, close and turn them upside down onto a towel until they've cooled down.

It was snack time when I was finished and that meant trying some of this:

Gallianne lily cheerfully volunteered

Please let me know if you try it,and whether you're jamming with the kiddos, a friend or by yourself: have a very SWEET time and enjoy the process!

SUNSHINE

You probably know by now I'm just crazy about recuperating plastic wrappings and playing with them. The base for these cards are exactly that: pieces of plastic I cut with my guillotine, their sizes are 5 in. x 4 in.so they fit in a standard envelope.

I used acrylic paint to stamp the flip-flops onto the sheet of plastic and black Stazon for the word:sunshine. The same paint was used on the edges of the white piece of paper to add more dimension.

There's a wallet size picture inside the card and the embellishments were done by stacking up 3 different cercles using pop-up glue dots:

Well now I'm off to the mailbox!Hope your day is full of SUNSHINE.

BIRTHDAY MINI

Hubby turned fifty last week! After a nice long day of celebration he told me he felt like jolting down some thoughts about his birthday. The scrapbooker that I am felt little lights going off in my head saying "MINI", "MINI"...so I made this simple album to hold all of his cards, some pictures and tags on which he will be able to write.

Here is how I started:
1.I aligned all the cards together to give me an idea for the format and cut 2 pieces of cardstock for the front and the back. The width is purposely a bit wider so as to protect the inside pages:

2.I chose a transparency for protection and to add a little more flair I used a grommet as a window.( I set the grommet by punching a smaller circle in the transparency )

3.I used my handy dandy Cropadile to make the holes and set some eyelets.

4.That's where the 4 pages I made using the different templates come in. I stamped an owl ( Sassafras ) on each of them and added black gems for the eyes. Each tag bares a title ( Making Memories ) such as "My thoughts"/ "My wishes".

Hope you enjoyed seeing the process. Let me know what you think!

NAIADE

We went to the beach over the week-end and I couldn't resist scrapping this picture of Gabrielle Rose. The journalling talks about the fact that she didn't want to come with us at first but as soon as she went in the water she stated relaxing and pretending to be a silly mermaid for the camera!

I'm glad I finally got to use this Making Memory cardstock, I've had it for months and could never "see" anything on it eventhough I loved its shape?
Here is a close-up so you can have a better look at the 2-layer clear stamps from Autumn Leaves STAMPOLOGY:

I like the concept of two stamps in one, one for the outline that you stamp over the 1st but the look is not as "clean" as I'd like it to be!
Well I hope you can find a minute to leave me a comment, you know each of them means so much to me.

A LITTLE TIP~UN PETIT TRUC

You know all the different shapes out there from The Making Memories tags to acrylic mini albums? Well each time I come across one of them, I trace it onto a piece of heavy card stock which then becomes a template ready to be used on a page or in a mini.

The picture above shows 4 different shapes (cardstock and p.ps) that I'm preparing to use for my next project. So be sure to check back soon for a mini and a tutoring!

PAPERMAKING: The Layout

Over at Simple Scrapbooks, Stacy's 4th challenge is to scraplift a page from the July/August issue.I chose to scraplift Celeste Smith's, her page is on page 29 if you'd like to take a peek.

Incorporating a bit of the paper I made last week-end on the lay out just tickled me pink! The title is made of Rub-ons by My Creative Cafe.

All right, have you had enough reading about my papermaking yet?!...
