enjoying: I love this period of the year, after Christmas, before the new year. We get to look back on the year passed, relax, eat good food and maybe even drink a glass of champagne.

je me sens: bien mais j'ai besoin d'aller au dodo.
le temps: l'est où la neige?!
j'ai besoin: de finir mon album 52 semaines avant la fin de l'année!
je me réjouis: j'aime beaucoup la période après Noël, avant le nouvel an. On fait un petit retour en arrière, le temps des bilans, on se détend, on mange bien et avec un peu de chance on boit aussi une coupe de champagne!
je me demande: si nos deux ados sauront être raisonnables samedi soir!

"Merry" C&S Cards - 2 Takes

Hello dear Friends! What will we do in a few days when the holiday season draws to a close and we stop making "merry" cards all together? While I'm slowly but surely wrapping Holiday decorations away, I find myself still enjoying making Holiday cards and it's a good thing for in France people exchange "good wishes" all through out the month of January!

Bonjour chères Scropines! Noel passé, je suis contente de ranger les décorations et de prépaper la maison pour le nouvel an. Pourtant, en ce qui concerne les cartes de voeux, je dois avouer ne pas avoir atteint l'overdose, non, pas du tout, si je me laissais aller, j'en ferais encore bien jusqu'à l'Epiphanie!

Today, I'm sharing two "Clean&Simple" cards using the same concept:
a kraft cardstock base, a piece of green Bazzill paper, a zigzag machine stitch on either side of the green cardstock, a vintage image and a MERRY sentiment (PTI die cut in self-adhesive glitter foam) and a tag for the second card.
It's amazing how the inclination of a card can affect its overall mood. With the horizontal card up above, one might get the sense of serenity, continuity. With the vertical card, one gets a more energetic vibe, lines are going up, giving a lift to the sentiment. That feeling is reinforced by the movement created by the piece of string.

Aujourd'hui, je vous propose deux cartes de style "Clean&Simple" basées sur le même concept:
une base en papier kraft, un morceau de papier Bazzill vert sapin avec une couture zigzag de chaque côté, une image suranée, une découpe pailletée MERRY (de Papertrey Ink) et une grande étiquette pour la deuxième carte.
Il est amusant de constater combien l'orientation d'une carte influence l'atmosphère qui s'en dégage. Par exemple, sur la première carte, tout est à l'horizontal, on a l'impression d'une continuité, l'enfant semble marcher derrière le mot. Avec la deuxième carte en revanche, les lignes ascendantes donne de l'énergie, elle semble comme plus "tonique" que la première. Ce sentiment est accentué par le mouvement crée par le lien de l'étiquette.
 N'oubliez pas qu'il y a un bracelet à gagner cette semaine!

I was approached a while ago by a British Company called "CUTEY". They asked me if I'd like to review their bracelets and kindly sent me two pieces.
La compagnie anglaise CUTEY m'a contactée pour me demander si je voulais bien recevoir deux bracelets et partager mon opinion.

I agreed of course and found them so cute that I'm keeping one and giving the other one to a lucky reader.
J'ai accepté biensûr, et comme je les trouve adorables, j'ai pensé en garder un et en donner un autre à l'une d'entre-vous.

These bracelets remind me the charm bracelets from Pandora. They're not as luxurious of course but I was impressed with their weight which feels really nice around the wrist.
Ces bracelets me font penser à ceux de Pandora (marque danoise très connue sur le continent nord-américain). Les bracelets CUTEY ne sont pas aussi luxieux bien entendu mais j'étais agréablement surprise par leur poids.

My favorite bead is that red one and I wish they had more charms like that one.
Ma perle préférée est la grande rouge alors que le petit coeur rose bien que mignon fait trop "petite fille" et bon marché.

I think these bracelets are adorable. I would see them more for a 12 to 25 year old than for myself but I would totally wear mine with a simple black sweater, no ring and bright nail polish for instance.

Je trouve ces bracelets plus appropriés pour une jeune fille/femme de 12 à 25 ans que pour moi et pourtant avec un simple pull noir, pas de bague et un joli vernis rouge sur des ongles courts, il pourrait etre parfait!

eating: we had veal Bratwurst with apple sauce for lunch, something about eating German food when it's cold outside!

weather: 26F, for the 1st time in four years we will not have a white Xmas

hipstamatic: 
Every day in December, I make and print two photo collages under Picasa: one is a mix of 4 Hipstamatic shots taken that day. This collage showcases yesterday's baking. We made classic French shortbread cookies and placed a small red M&M in their center. 

  Chaque jour en décembre, je réalise et imprime deux mosaiques. Une des deux est composée de petites photos Hipstamatic et celle-ci relate l'activité d'hier: fabrication de Sablés. Nous avons choisi d'en garnir certain d'un M&M rouge au centre (fixé par un peu de chocolat blanc)

En ce moment:

j'ai besoin: de me dépecher un peu, la visite au supermarché pour les commissions de Noel ne sera pas plus plaisante en fin d'après-midi!
je me réjouis: de rester à la maison avec la famille
je me demande: si j'arriverai à finir mes 3 DDs d'ici la fin de la semaine prochaine.

1 Card & 2 Naughty Elves

Hello Friends! Today's card was made using dies from Papertrey Ink. (I'm just in love with their products!) I tried a palette that evokes a certain nostalgia to me : red, white with a bit of silver and a touch of aqua.
Bonjour chères Scropines! La carte du jour est faite grace aux découpes de Papertrey Ink  et la palette de couleurs (rouge, blanc avec une touche d'argent, et turquoise) ont pour moi un petit coté désuet que j'aime bien.

When I prepared this December Daily, I added glassine or kraft bags on several pages knowing full well that I would have more pictures or text to illustrate the particular day.
Lorsque j'ai préparé le pages de mon dédé, j'ai pris soin d'inclure pas mal de petites pochettes en papier. Cela me permet de rajouter photos et textes tout en gardant une page minimaliste.

EDIT du dimanche soir: Il y a une expression en anglais qui dit  "Be careful for what you wish for, you just might get it" (=fais attention à ce que tu souhaites, il se peut que cela devienne réalité). Je me suis crue fine en lançant ce petit jeu, c'était sans compter sur les deux "Folles-Dingues" de service, Miss Marinette et Gaelle! eating: I was going to roast some chickens for dinner and then I found out some had other plans and I started crafting away...so we ended up eating left-overs.

I fell in love with this retro elf a while ago. I don't know if you are familiar with the story, the Elf on the Shelf. The Elf goes back to the North pole at night and when he comes back to his adoptive home in the morning he's always hidding in a different spot to play a trick on the children in the house. When Lily saw the elf had moved she asked me if he had moved on his own. I like playing magic but I don't want to lie so when she insisted and asked "did YOU move him?" I said "yes". Lily started to cry. She was so disappointed she said I had ruined it for her. Of course I tried telling her that we make our own magic but she didn't buy into it one bit!


Il y a quelques jours j'ai commandé ce petit lutin rétro. Il a toute une histoire dont celle de partir chaque soir pour regagner le Pole Nord pour revenir dans sa maison d'adoption le matin mais jamais au meme endroit. Lorsque Gallianne a vu qu'il n'était pas là où elle l'avait laissé, elle m'a demandée si je l'avais déplacé. J'ai bien essayé de lui répondre que l'on faisait sa propre magie, elle a insisté "oui, mais est-ce que c'est TOI?" et lorsque je lui ai dit "oui" elle a éclaté en sanglots!

En ce moment:

j'écoute: Mark regarde le film The Road to Perdition.
je lis: pas grand'chose en ce moment
je mange: on a failli avoir des poulets rotis ce soir et puis certain se sont décommandés et d'autres ont scrappé..donc ça s'est terminé par des restes et des toasts.
je bois: rien pour l'instant mais je me réjouis de la tasse de thé que je vais avoir sous peu.
je porte: un pantalon noir et gilet anthracite.
je me sens: heureuse et chanceuse.
le temps: autour des -2, 0C, nous attendons de la neige cette nuit
j'ai besoin: d'écrire des mails, cartes de voeux, éditer des photos...
je me réjouis: d'aller au cinéma avec Mark
je me demande: quand je prendrai enfin le temps de faire les biscuits de Noel.

We're planning on continuing a similar experience in 2012 and sharing it with our readers on our blog Scrap Rendez-Vous but this time it'll be more like Becky Higgins' Project Life. Pour Virginie, Pascale et moi, le fait d'avoir scrappé chaque semaine de 2011 avec le projet "2011 en 52 pages". Nous poursuivons l'aventure tout en l'adaptant sur une aventure similaire au projet de Becky Higgins (Project Life). Pascale a écrit une introduction sur Scrap Rendez-Vous aujourd'hui. a Holiday Mini - album de Noel

Hello Dear Friends! We're half-way through December and I haven't shared a mini Holiday book I made for a dear friend of mine. It's not a December Daily per say, it has a two-ring binder so pages can be added, taken off or switched. I bought the fabric at Hancock's in November and I like that clean Scandinavian look. Let's look at some pictures...

Bonjour chères Scropines! Nous sommes déjà à la mi-décembre et je ne vous ai toujours pas montré le mini fait pour une amie il y a de cela quelques semaines. Il ne s'agit pas forcèment d'un December Daily mais avec son système de fermeture classeur, on peut facilement ajouter, enlever ou changer de places les pages. J'avais trouvé ce tissu juste à coté de chez moi en novembre. j'aime son coté super "clean" scandinave mais passons aux photos...

And since we are talking about recording the Holidays one way or another I'd like to share some exciting news. I was contacted by Laura who is a coordinator for the Hipstamatic App. If you follow me you know how dingo loco I am for that application right? Well, Laura asked me if she could feature some of the work I have done with the hipstamatic pictures! Et puisque nous parlons minis et Noel, j'aimerais partager avec vous une petite nouvelle bien sympa. Laura, coordinatrice de l'application Hipstamatic de l'iPhone m'a contactée il y a quelques jours. WEEK49's photocollage - Home for the Holidays

Hello Dear Friends! My gift has arrived! It came from Canada, nice wrapped in a happy smile! Our Gabrielle is back for the Holidays and having our three children home safe and sound is simply the best feeling in the world! We had our first dinner all together in 6 months!

Bonjour chères Scropines! Mon cadeau est arrivé! Par Avion, tout droit du Canada, avec un joli sourire...notre Gabrielle est de retour et le fait d'avoir tous ses enfants en bonne santé sous un meme toit est la meilleure des sensations!

WEEK49/SEMAINE49: 

We had a great week with lots of singing, decorating and celebrating - we had our first snow and Lily did not like our tree at first because she wanted us to use our "old" decorations. For the first time ever, I wanted to change and have a tree adorned with silver, white and antique gold. Lily said it wasn't colorful enough, it wasn't traditional enough and proceeded to cry!

Nous avons eu une excellente semaine, pleine de chants, de célébrations et de décorations. Cette année, j'avais vraiment envie de changer la déco du sapin, je le souhaitais couvert d'argent, de blanc et de vieil or.   Miss Lily n'a pas trop apprécié, elle a trouvé qu'il n'avait pas assez de couleurs et qu'il n'était pas "traditionnel" puis à éclater en sanglots!

December Daily - Fabric Binder w. Hipstamatic shots - Week1

Hello Dear Friends!
Thank you for your enthusiasm concerning my December Dailies. As you may know, I'm keeping three DDs this year: a 6"post bound album with a fabric cover and a two page spread for each day (you can see the latest pages posted here), a cigar box with 25 folded cards and this one: DD#2, a red fabric covered binder whose structure is also homemade. For this one I have decided to use ONLY Hipstamatic pictures taken with my iPhone and printed at home (each shot is:1 1/2 "). I made all the pages ahead of time and used the number tags Virginie and I created for Scrap RDV. I'm also writing the journaling in English for this one so that hubby, if he were so inclined as to open it one day, would understand everything! Enough nonsense, let's look at the pages for the first week...

Comme vous le savez peut-etre, cette année j'ai préparé et je tiens 3 dédés (une pure folie je vous le dis tout de suite!) Le 1er est en tissus rouge, fait 6 pouces et marche sur un système de vis, une page double pour chaque jour (si vous voulez en voir un exemple, c'est ICI)Le DD3 est la boite à cigares et il faudra que je vous raconte comment je l'ai eue cette boite! (non Maud, je n'ai pas fumé pour avoir la boite!) et le DD2 dont la structure est aussi "homemade", couverture en pilou rouge, coins et système de fermeture classeur Tim Holtz. Pour ce DD2, toutes les pages ont été préparées à l'avance en utilisant les étiquettes que Virginie et moi avions concues pour Scrap RDV. Le journaling est en anglais, au cas où, sait-on jamais, dans un moment d'égarement total, DH le consulterait, il comprendrait TOUT! Enfin, pour ce qui est des photos, j'ai choisi de n'utiliser que des Hipstamatics. A présent, je vous propose de regarder les pages de la première semaine de DD2...

December Daily - Cigar box - WEEK1

Hello Dear Friends! Today, I am back with DD#3. I thought I'd share the whole first week all at once, what do you say?
Bonjour chères Scropines! Aujourd'hui, je reprends dédé3, celui qui a fumé tous les cigares pour avoir la boite et je vous montre la première semaine, ça vous dit?

I have put together 7 photo collages, one for each day of the week. On each collage, the image up above shows the card closed with Avital's journaling card while the bottom one shows it opened. For this DD, I've also decided to use instant photos whenever possible...

J'ai préparé 7 collages, un par jour, du 1er au 7 décembre. Sur chaque collage, la photo du haut représente la carte fermée avec la carte d'Avital alors que celle du bas, la carte résumant la dite journée, est ouverte. Pour ce dédé, j'ai aussi choisi d'utiliser des pola. le plus souvent possible...
