Hello Dear Friends and welcome to another edition of scrapbooking with Penny Black. Today, I'm using a background stamp (Penny Black Inc.#40-201 roman surround) to create the cover of a mini book and a stamp from the "friendship" set (#30-160) to decorate it. This is a very quick mini (3½ x 5") to make for you or someone else and it could also be a simple notebook with no pictures...

Chaque week-end, j'ai le plaisir de partager ici un projet réalisé avec les produits Penny Black Inc. et aujourd'hui, je vous propose d'utiliser un tampon de fond pour faire un petit carnet. Pour la couverture, j'ai utilisé le nouveau tampon de fond "roman surround" (#40-201) et pour la décorer, j'ai choisi un des tampons "friendship" (#30-160). When I first saw this beautiful slapstick /cling stamp, it reminded me of the interior of the beautiful Villa Vizcaya in Miami. We visited it last February when we spent a few days in Florida and I was mesmerized by the place! One thing leading to another, I found myself daydreaming about the Art Déco façades of the buildings in Miami Beach, the turquoise and fresh pink, the sun... so that inspired me to make a mini about our vacation. I pulled out a sheet of aqua colored cardstock (Penny Black #08-002) and inked the slapstick stamp with VersaMagic Turquoise Gem.

En regardant ce tampon de fond, j'ai pensé à l'intérieur de cette belle villa Vizcaya à Miami. Nous l'avions visité en Février dernier et j'avais été transportée par la magie du lieu. De fil en aiguille, je suis partie sur les couleurs acidulées des façades Art Déco de Miami Beach, turquoise, rose, blanc... c'est comme ça que je me suis mise à faire un petit carnet sur nos vacances. J'ai commencé par prendre une feuille turquoise (Penny Black #08-002), j'ai encré le tampon avec l'encre "Turquoise Gem" de VersaMagic.

Then, following the usual steps, I heat-embossed the pattern (clear embossing powder). This simple technique is perfect to use on the cover of a booklet because it gives it a nice shine and a sturdy feel.
Ensuite, j'ai embossé à chaud (poudre transparente). Cette technique est tout simple et se prete parfaitement pour la couverture d'un carnet car non seulement elle donne un effet brillant mais en plus elle renforce le papier.

Next, I made a crease in the center of the cover. One crease is enough here since I didn't plan on having too many inside pages.
L'étape suivante, faire un pli au centre de la couverture. Un seul pli suffit puisque nous n'ajouterons pas plus de quelques pages à l'intérieur du carnet.

To build the inside pages, select a few pieces of paper. Mine come from an old ledger book...
Pour les pages, j'ai utilisé quelques feuilles d'un vieux cahier de classe...

For the assembly, I marked the center of the spine with a pencil. Then I held the pages inside the cover and stapled everything together. I inked the spine when I was all finished to cover some marks.

Pour assembler les pages à la couverture, j'ai tenu le tout et trouvé le centre du pli. J'ai fait un point au crayon puis agrafer de l'extérieur. Je me suis servie du tampon encreur pour couvrir quelques marques.

Once the booklet was assembled, I picked the "hello sunshine" from the set of stamps. I used a bright orange ink and heat embossed it with clear powder.

J'attends toujours d'avoir fini l'assemblage d'un mini avant de le décorer comme ça si jamais je dois recommencer quelque chose, tout n'est pas perdu (ça sent le vécu, non?) Le petit tampon "hello sunshine" m'a fait de l'oeil, j'ai utilisé une encre orange sur un morceau de papier jaune. Il est aussi embossé à chaud ce qui lui donne un côté plastifié, presque comme un epoxy.
