alexandra's Sunday scrapbooking - Watercoloring over Stamping

Hello dear Friends! Welcome to another edition of scrapbooking with Penny Black Inc. As I'm sure you have noticed, watercolored and letter printed backgrounds are all the rage these days. Today, I'd like to share with you a very easy technique to create your own custom made papers...

Bonjour chères Scropines! Pour le rendez-vous de scrap Penny Black Inc de ce week-end, je vous propose un TUTO tout simple pour réaliser vos propres fonds de pages "aquarelle & texte manuscrit"...
The stamp used for today's project is // tampon utilisé: letter background #1999L
★★★
TUTO
I started by masking the four edges of my watercoloring paper. Then, with VersaFine Vintage Sepia Ink*, I stamped all over my paper. ( *much softer than a black ink, a sepia or brown ink will give that "vintage" look that is so hip these days.)

Once I knew for sure the ink was dry, I added a soft wash of colors...
Une fois l'encre sèche, j'ai ajouté de la couleur...
I used a heat tool to dry the background and stated building up a page with leaves #51-002
J'ai séché le fond de page et commencé à la construire en utilisant les matrices leaves #51-002
and here is the page...
et voici la page...
Thank You for your visit today! Enjoy the rest of your week-end!
Merci de votre visite! Passez une excellente fin de week-end!

Your use of the red for the wording is superb echoing the splash of colour in the photo & your placement of the watercoloured background just at that corner of the photo with the yellowy oranges blending from the photo into the background is beautiful. (Hard to describe in written form but it's delectable visually). The whole effect is lovely & I particularly like your gold doily adding its shine to the glow in the photo.

This is just lovely and I am going to adapt some of your wonderful tips to my first canvas. I like the idea of stamping with faint watercolor behind it and am going to try that today! Thanks so much for all you share!

Oh wow! I always love your pages, but this is up at the top of my favorites! I never thought to watercolor over a background like this & I could do that. The gold doily is unexpected & such a great element. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm saving up for those leaves--just love them!

I finally got a chance to read this post which I had bookmarked when it was published. This is a great background paper idea, Alexandra! The wash is subtle, but still plays a big role in the overall finished fabulous layout! Thank you for the tute!!
